David is an experienced, versatile C-suite leader in healthcare who has capitalized on digital transformation to lead both integrated health systems and health IT vendors for over 30 years. He tarted his career at IBM in the healthcare vertical and was recruited by his client to become the CIO of Memorial Hermann, a large integrated health system located in Houston. He held that position for 20 years. While there, he was also tapped as the EVP and Chief Strategy Officer to lead marketing, strategic planning, and assumed operational responsibilities for ambulatory services and the ACO/Health Plan. Most recently, David left Cerner Corp (CERN), a Fortune 500 EMR company. For 3 years, he led the Consumer and Employer Strategic Business Units focused on building software and services that allowed health systems to engage with consumers, patients, and employees in support of improving their own health status.
David is currently the Managing Partner of WayPoint Healthcare Solutions, a boutique healthcare advisory business assisting both health systems and health IT vendors. He resides in Houston, and is married to Jennifer, his wife of 34 years. Both are graduates of Texas A&M and together – they have raised 3 boys. David enjoys being outdoors including saltwater fishing, bike riding, and golf.
