As Illuminate’s Head of Data Science, Tate leads the design and development of all AI offerings in the Discovery Platform. He is dedicated to expanding Illuminate’s AI footprint by incorporating cutting-edge natural language processing research and federated machine learning into all our products. During his career, he has focused on implementing the best science to drive the most optimal outcomes.
Tate earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Baylor University and his B.S. in Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Notre Dame. He is a natural problem-solver focused on deriving insights from data to improve the lives of both patients and practitioners.
Previously, Tate worked as a Data Scientist at Cerner Corporation. He designed the statistical code validation framework for the HEDIS project and was integral in earning the first certified HEDIS measure using the novel Clinical Quality Language against an interoperable FHIR dataset.
